A removal van company thinks giant cardboard castles is the way to cut the stress of moving house

Cardboard castles: The designs will give children a 'safe space' during the move

The answer to moving house stress may have been solved – by a giant cardboard box.

To help children cope with the uncertainty of relocating - and to give their parents a break - a rental van company has turned a hand to toy making and invented massive origami cardboard castles.

A single BoxFort can be folded into a fortress complete with portcullis, towers and accessories.

More complex cardboard designs by AnyVan include a four metre tall structure made up of 62 boxes.

The toy was invented after a poll by the firm revealed people find moving house more stressful than job interviews, getting married and even having children.

A top Cambridge University psychologist and TV star has confirmed the back-to-basics toy will help children through the moving process by acting as a “safe space”.

Dr Sam Wass, psychologist on hit show The Secret Life of 4-Year-olds, said: “For children, moving often involves leaving behind the only place that they have ever lived.

“AnyVan’s concept of making cardboard boxes into play tools will make moving a better experience for children, as the forts give them a ‘safe space’ during the move – somewhere they can retreat to, with their toys, while everything is changing around them.”
