Woodford station: Man dies after being hit by Central line Tube train

A man has died after being hit by a Central line Tube train at a north east London station.

Police, paramedics and fire crews were scrambled to Woodford station shortly before 11am.

Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Footage from the station showed emergency service vehicles lining the street outside.

Woodford Station remained closed at least 40 minutes after the incident on Thursday morning

The incident is not being treated as suspicious, police have said.

There was no service between Leytonstone and Loughton and between Hainault and Woodford while police dealt with the incident on the eastbound platform.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “A man has sadly died after he was struck by an eastbound Central Line train at Woodford station this morning.

“Officers were called at 11am and attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade."

He added: “Work is now underway to identify the man and inform his family.

"This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
