TfL Tube delays: Severe disruption on Victoria and Piccadilly lines after trackside fire and faulty train cause stations to be evacuated

There was severe disruption on the Victoria and Piccadilly lines this morning after smoke was reported on platforms at two stations.

Finsbury Park station was evacuated shortly before 7am after a trackside fire and the Victoria line was suspended between King's Cross St Pancras and Walthamstow Central.

Severe disruption was later reported across the entire line.

On the Piccadilly line, there was also a fire alert at Manor House, which was also evacuated as passengers reporting smoke coming from a train.

TfL confirmed this was due to a "faulty train". One commuter reported being "choked by fumes".

There was also no service between Northfields and Heathrow after a signal failure at Boston Manor. Severe delays were later reported across the whole line.

Commuters reported that emergency services descended on Finsbury Park as passengers tried to get to work.

The problem was then compounded by issues on the Piccadilly line.

A TfL spokesperson said: “We apologise to Victoria and Piccadilly line customers who faced disruption to their journeys this morning.

"This was caused by a now-extinguished trackside fire at Finsbury Park and a signal failure at Boston Manor.

"The Victoria line will be returning to a normal service soon and our engineers are working as quickly as possible at Boston Manor to restore a normal Piccadilly line service.”
