Southeastern rail passengers are facing more travel misery this morning after a major signalling failure at London Bridge caused services to be cancelled and delayed.

Disruption is expected on all services to and from London Bridge, Waterloo East, Charing Cross and Cannon Street until at least 10am this morning, due to the fault between New Cross and London Bridge.

Although all lines have now reopened, delays are expected for at least another two hours.

Passengers have also complained of overcrowding on trains into London this morning.

Rachel Skelton tweeted: "@Se_Railway on a scarily overcrowded train wedged against the door #londonbridge #livingthedream."

Commuters have been advised that Southeastern train tickets will be accepted on other routes to and from the capital.

There are also delays on the westbound District Line between Barking and Wimbledon, Richmond, and Ealing Broadway, after a passenger was taken ill at Bromley-By-Bow.

A statement from Southeastern said: "Following a major failure of the signalling equipment in the London Bridge area, services in and out of London Bridge, London Waterloo East, London Charing Cross and London Cannon Street are now able to run.

"London Underground, London Overground and Docklands Light Railway are accepting Southeastern tickets on reasonable routes. London Buses are accepting Southeastern tickets on reasonable routes between Lewisham and London.
