A woman has died after being hit by a train at Regent's Park Tube station.

Commuters described chaotic scenes as emergency services rushed to the station around 8am this morning.

Sean Bowe said on Twitter: “Regent's Park Tube Station is closed right now with as many emergency service vehicles as you could wish for outside it.”

The Bakerloo Line was temporarily suspended between Paddington and Piccadilly Circus.

Services resumed shortly after 8.30am but passengers faced severe delays.

A spokeswoman for British Transport Police confirmed the woman was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 7.40am.

She said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious.

"The woman's next of kin have been informed."
