Boris Johnson has resurrected plans for a Crossrail station at Ladbroke Grove.

Proposals for a rail hub on the disused Kensal Gasworks site were shelved in 2013 following a feasibility study.

But plans for a stop between Acton Mainline and Paddington are being revisited in the hope a development will lead to the construction of up to 5,000 homes and creation of 2,000 jobs.

The Mayor, who is MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, said: “We have seen across London how Crossrail is transforming vast swathes of land and acting as a catalyst for much needed new homes and jobs.

Upgrade works: The extra station would be between Paddington and Acton Mainline

“By looking again at the options for this station we firmly believe that it could have a similar impact, triggering a much-needed fillip for this part of the capital.”

Crossrail, which will be known as the Elizabeth line when it launches in 2018, stretches 60 miles across the capital from Reading and Heathrow in the west to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east.
