A busy Tube station was evacuated during the morning rush hour as firefighters investigated reports of smoke issuing from a train.

Staff cleared the platforms at North Wembley station after smoke was reported this morning.

The Bakerloo line was suspended between Willesden Junction and Harrow and Wealdstone and London Overground between Willesden Junction and Watford Junction.

London Fire Brigade were called to the scene shortly after 7.30am.

LFB’s borough commander for Brent, Simon Tuhill, posted on Twitter: “Crews from Wembley are currently in attendance at North Wembley station to reports of smoke issuing from a train.

“There is reportedly smoke coming from under one of the train carriages at North Wembley.

"Crews will be on scene for a while investigating.”

The incident was stood down and services resumed at about 8.45am with severe delays on the line.
