Commuters travelling through New Cross faced another morning of disrupted travel after a vehicle struck a bridge near the station.

It is the second time in a week that rush hour services through the station have been disrupted, after signalling problems led to widespread cancellations on Wednesday morning.

Wednesday's problems saw trains bypass St Johns and New Cross stations altogether, and left London Bridge services running up to 20 minutes late.

This morning's services were disrupted when the vehicle hit the bridge just before 9am, leading to delays to trains passing through the station.

Commuters took to twitter to complain about the second day of delays this week.

Charlotte O'Gorman said: "New Cross is not having a good time of it this week, is it?"

And Lee Proud tweeted: "@Se_Railway just want to congratulate you on a memorable week of travelling from New Cross!"

A statement from Southeastern said the rail service would soon be returning to normal.

It said: "Following a vehicle striking a bridge earlier at New Cross the line is now open.

"Train services running through this station are returning to normal."
