More tube strikes planned for September

Strike action: train drivers plan to strike again on September 17
Dorothy Spencer28 August 2014

Train drivers union ASLEF are planning further strike action after failing to reach an agreement over continuing grievances between themselves and London Underground management.

An ongoing dispute between the train drivers and management failed to be resolved after a mass-walkout on the Central and Waterloo & City line last Friday which caused an almost total shut down of the two lines.

Finn Brennan, ASLEF's District Organiser, said: "The issues at the heart of this dispute - treatment of staff, failing to stick to agreements made, and cuts in safety training - aren't going to go away."

He added that the strike had '100 per cent support' from union members.

Transport for London held talks at ACAS with the union last Thursday but no agreement was reached. ASLEF say they have still not been contacted by the company to address the issues leading to further strike action.

If no resolution is reached ASLEF union members on the Central and Waterloo & City lines will withdraw their labour between midnight and 23.59pm on September 17.
