Commuters are facing huge rush hour delays to and from Kings Cross station this evening after a man fell on to the tracks at a nearby station.

The man suffered head injuries when he fell at Alexandra Palace station just before 3pm this afternoon.

He was taken to hospital, but his condition is not currently known.

The incident has meant trains to and from Kings Cross are facing delays of up to 30 minutes until 9pm.

Passengers on Grand Central, Great Northern, Hull Trains and Virgin East Coast have been sharing photos of packed trains and chaotic scenes at London stations.

Cambridgshire councillor Jonathan Gray tweeted a photo of a crowded carriage, writing: "Ok, so @GNRailUK can't be blamed for trespassers.

"But it's just another example of rapidly declining line. I don't pay £5k for this...."

And Mark Chappell advised: "Avoid Kings Cross like the plague. Delays everywhere."

National Rail wrote on their website: "A trespass incident at Alexandra Palace has been resolved and all lines have reopened.

Trains to and from London kings Cross are being delayed by up to 30 minutes. This is expected to continue until 9pm."

Great Northern passengers are being advised to use Abellio Greater Anglia trains or London Underground to complete their journeys.

Virgin Trains East Coast customers are being directed to Euston or St Pancras International.
