Passengers at Heathrow airport described “chaos” this morning after staff were forced to write flight information by hand while the monitors were down.

Airport staff had to rely on a whiteboard and marker pen to share flight details in Terminal 2 due to a temporary connection issue.

One picture shows a number of flights listed on the whiteboard with a man standing nearby checking flight details on his phone.

Sarbjeet Johal wrote on Twitter: “Monitors in whole Terminal 2 at Heathrow Airport weren’t working. Humans had to jump in by writing flight information with hands.”

He also said the monitor failure at Heathrow caused “chaos”, and said he notified staff about a few stranded travellers who needed help.

Another passenger wrote: “When technology fails, just get the paper and pens out, sorted!”

Speaking to the Standard, a spokeswoman for Heathrow Airport apologised for any inconvenience caused by the problem.

She said: “A connection issue temporarily affected some of our flight information screens at Heathrow this morning.

"Our teams worked quickly to resolve the issue and screens are now working as normal.

“Heathrow colleagues will remain on hand to help passengers if needed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused this morning.”
