Police and paramedics raced to a north London station today after a man fell onto the railway line.
Witnesses described dramatic scenes at West Hampstead rail station as an air ambulance was scrambled to rescue the man on Saturday afternoon.
Trains were delayed as emergency services cordoned off the scene to treat the man, who was taken to hospital by ambulances “as a priority”.
The helicopter landed in the car park of builders’ merchants Travis Perkins, next to the station.
The man suffered a leg injury, a spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said officers were called at 2.48pm to the Thameslink station.
The incident is being treated as non-suspicious and the man’s injuries are not life-threatening.#
