Cash payments to halt on London's buses

Joe Watts4 June 2014

London buses will no longer take cash payments from next month under a shake-up of the capital’s transport system.

From July 6, all buses run by Transport for London will only accept Oyster cards or contactless payment with a debit or credit card. A single pay as you go fare is £1.45.

If you don’t have enough credit on your Oyster card or your travelcard has expired, you are permitted a single journey on a bus before you have to top up in order to travel again.
