A London based photographer has shared a timelapse video of the moon rising over the London skyline at night.

Photographer James Burns took the timelapse video from the 34th floor penthouse in Almacantar's iconic Centre Point building, on Monday night between 7pm and 10pm.

The footage shows the changing colours of the clouds as the moon moves in and out of view above some of London's most famous landmarks, including The Gherkin and The Shard.

Burns runs a website and instagram specifically dedicated to his work photographing the London skyline in different weather conditions.

Burns said of the project:"It's interesting watching the planes fly across the path of the moon and then watch the moon dart in and out of the clouds".

Talking about the logistics of filming, he said: "the shoot began at 6.30pm and I shot with a zoom lens trained on St Paul's until the moon passed out of the frame. At that point in the edit I switched to the camera that was running for 3 hours on a wider lens overlooking the West End".
