Facebook rolls out new live video tab on mobile app

Expect to see a lot more live broadcasts on your timeline in the near future

With the rise of Periscope and Snapchat, live video streaming is becoming an increasingly big deal on social media – and now Facebook is getting in on the action.

While live video has been a function on the social networking giant for a few months now, it’s about to become a more prominent feature on the Facebook mobile app.

The company has begun to roll out a new dedicated live video tab on the app to a small percentage of users, set to grow over time, which will make it easier for people on Facebook to watch, search for, and discover live videos.

Users will also be able to react to live videos through comments and the new ‘like’ buttons, including wow, sad, and love, while live broadcasts will be possible within Facebook Groups and Events.

It will be quick and easy to share the best and most entertaining broadcasts, with users able to invite their friends to tune in, and it will be possible to search for live video streams by location.

While it remains to be seen how popular and widely-used these new features will be, expect your Facebook feed to become a whole lot more animated in the near future.
