Prospective iPad buyers may want to hold off as the iPad Pro range is likely to get a major update in just a few months.

New iPad Pro models are expected to be released before the end of March, according to Bloomberg.

“These machines are likely to come out around the end of March – and that the new iPad Pros and 13-inch MacBook Air are already deep in production overseas,” reads the Mark Gurman Power On newsletter.

Gurman says this next iPad Pro line-up will represent the “biggest revamp ever", with upgrades including an Apple M3 chipset, Oled screen, a new Magic Keyboard accessory, and both 11-inch and 13-inch sizes.

There’s also a suggestion the new iPad Pros will get “landscape” Face ID. Current models’ cameras are arranged so they centre your face correctly when held upright.

A new keyboard, a more laptop-like front camera – does this mean we’ll see iPad Pros able to behave more like MacBooks then ever? They have the power for the job these days.

Other tablets expected in March include a new iPad Air, last refreshed in 2022, and a larger iPad Air. The current model has a 10.9-inch screen.

Veteran Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the new addition may have a 12.9-inch screen, like the current larger iPad Pro.

There are also suggestions the new iPad Airs will have Apple M3 processors, leaving display tech as the clearest way for Apple to keep a separation between the Air and higher-end Pro families. Other reports say the iPad Air may be left with the slightly older Apple M2 chipset, though.

That marks out standard LCD as the most likely display tech for the new iPad Air tablets. While the current iPad Pros have more advanced miniLED screens, these are expensive to implement.

91Mobiles posted what purport to be CAD renders of the 12.9-inch iPad Air, and there’s nothing too dramatic to report here. It features moderately thick screen surrounds, a portrait-style front camera, single rear camera, and Touch-ID button.

The final launch expected in March is a MacBook Air with Apple M3 processors. Anyone who bought the 15-inch MacBook Air, released in June 2023, might be miffed at their new computer becoming old in well under a year. However, most folks wouldn’t notice too much of a performance difference in day-to-day use between the two processor generations.
