Survivors of genocide say lessons haven’t been learnt

Kate Moore19 November 2017

RightsInfo has launched its latest film ‘The Warning Signs’ to mark International Day of Tolerance.

The film looks at the importance of human rights, focusing on three survivors of genocide, spanning 75 years.

Eric Murangwa, Kemal Pervanic and Ruth Barnett speak movingly about their stories, detailing the ways their societies broke down gradually.

The survivors also discuss how they see frightening parallels in what is happening today.

After more than 200 people supported an online crowdfunder, RightsInfo were able to produce the inspiring film.

In August, RightsInfo launched a crowdfunder in response to the Charlottesville marches, which raised over £20k.

They say “the best way to fight the rise of extremism is to build support for basic human rights protections”.
