Even young princes and princesses get a talking-to from mom and dad every once in a while.

But Kate and Prince William have reportedly found an alternative to the “naughty step” when it comes to disciplining Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, who is two-years-old.

“There’s no ’naughty step’ but there is a ‘chat sofa,’” a source told The Sun. “The naughty child is taken away from the scene of the row or disruption and talked to calmly by either Kate or William,” they continued, later adding that Kate is “slightly stricter” than William when it comes to disciplining the children.

In addition to the “chat sofa,” Kate and William reportedly never resort to shouting - and they don’t allow it from their children either.

“Things are explained and consequences outlined and they never shout at them,” the source said. “Shouting is absolutely ‘off-limits’ for the children and any hint of shouting at each other is dealt with by removal.”

The children’s nanny, Maria Borrallo, is on the same page, as it was reported that she works alongside Kate and William to discipline the young royals. “They are very good at listening to the children but being firm,” the source said.

Of course, even though it’s been reported that George, Charlotte and Louis are all well-behaved, Prince William recently shared that things don’t always go smoothly.

While speaking remotely to representatives of the PEEK Project charity last month, William joked about dinner time struggles with his children.

“If parents put something on that children love, dinner time goes very well,” he said, adding, “But if you put something on the table they don't want to do, that's another ball game.”
