They were family friends, then childhood sweethearts. But it was man and wife that George Spencer-Churchill, the Marquess of Blandford, future 13th Duke of Marlborough, and Camilla Thorp became during a spectacular celebration at Blenheim Palace in September of this year.

And now, in this month's issue of Tatler , exclusive photographs taken on the day, and more than a few details of the soiree itself, have been revealed.

"I basically hit Pinterest in a rather full-on manner," admits the new Marchioness, 31, about her preparations for the day. "I was particularly worried that the pink and gold colour scheme for dinner was rather girly but it felt very me in the end."

Whilst Pinterest might have played inspiration in the lead-up, your average DIY nuptials it certainly was not.

Following a ceremony at St. Mary Magdalene Church, a 300-strong guest list enjoyed a grand reception in the grounds of the palace, where food stands dished up lashings of lobster rolls, crudites and ice cream whilst an oyster shucker worked their way around the South Lawn.

At night, a black tie affair in the palace itself - drinks in the Grand Hall, followed by a three-course dinner, dancing, fireworks and err, aerobatics. Naturally.

For the glamorous daytime ceremony, the bride wore Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda - an off-the-shoulder gown, with a lace bodice and an ornate organza and lace skirt plus train, paired with an exquisite tiara, which once belonged to the US heiress Conseula Vanderbilt (who had married the 9th Duke of Marlborough in 1895).

The groom, 26, wore a tailored Davies & Son suit for the ceremony and changed into black tie for the evening - with his bride opting for an intricate lace creation embroidered with silver, embellished with a cape featuring Boodles diamonds.

The night ended at 3:30am, and the newly weds disappeared into the night in a Mini Moke adorned with balloons and traditional 'just married' sign; well, that's one thing that stayed Pinterest at the palace at least.
