Tower Hamlets council has still not completed its council election count.

The borough suspended their operations at 3am today and will start again on Tuesday. It first suspended the count on Saturday morning after processing votes for the mayoral election ran over.

Recounts have been taking place at Bromley South ward. Even when the Bromley result is resolved the councillors' team will not be complete. There will still be three vacancies in Blackwall and Cubitt Town where the election was postponed after a candidate's deat

Luftur Rahman, of independent party Tower Hamlets First, was elected as mayor following the election on Thursday.

The delay comes after allegations of postal fraud during the last local elections. Police officers were at every polling station amid warnings the borough was at “high risk” of electoral fraud.

During the count at the Troxy, in Limehouse, east London, was placed on lockdown by security staff.

London was one of the last regions to return European Parliamentary results due to the delay at Tower Hamlets.
