Jeremy Corbyn has called on voters to “honour the victims” of terror attacks in London and Manchester by taking to polling stations tomorrow.

As the Labour leader rounded up his snap General Election campaign just days after eight people died in an attack at London Bridge he said taking to the ballot would show “democracy will never be cowed by fear”.

At his homecoming rally in Islington, north London, Corbyn told hundreds of supporters: “Tomorrow you have the power to say our country can be better than this. It can be run in the interests of the majority; not the political and corporate elites.

"People fought and died for our right to vote. In the course of this campaign people have lost their lives in Manchester and here in London - citizens of a free and democratic country.

"We can honour the victims of these atrocities tomorrow by voting. By showing democracy that will never be cowed by terror and that hope can triumph over fear.”

He added: "Labour's campaign has already changed the face of British politics. As we prepare for government, we have already changed the debate and given people hope. Hope that it doesn't have to be like this; that inequality can be tackled; that austerity can be ended; that you can stand up to the elites and the cynics.

"This is the new centre ground. The place where most people actually are.

“The policies the majority actually want, not what the establishment and its media mouthpieces insist they should want. This is the new mainstream, and we have staked it out and made it our own - together."

The statement came as the final victims of the London Bridge atrocity were named as French tourist Xavier Thomas, 45, and Ignacio Echeverria, 35.

The other confirmed fatalities are Australians nanny Sara Zelenak, 21, nurse Kirsty Boden, 28, Christine Archibald, 30, a Canadian charity worker; James McMullan, 32, a British entrepreneur, French chef Sebastien Balanger, 36 and Alexandre Pigeard, 27, a French waiter.

In Manchester 22 people were killed when suicide bomber Salman Abedi blew himself up at an Ariana Grande concert in the city’s arena on May 22.
