Shadow chancellor Anneliese Dodds was interrupted by her daughter mid-interview on a live broadcast this morning.

Ms Dodds, who was given the key shadow cabinet role yesterday, was speaking to Kay Burley on Sky when her daughter walked into the room and came alongside her.

Discussing the economic impact of coronavirus and the prospect of the lockdown being lifted, Ms Dodds said: “We need to get to the best possible situation for dealing with the virus and then ensuring we have that economic support there for businesses and individuals that they need at this time.”

In the middle of her comments, Ms Dodds’s daughter walked through the door of the room, to which Ms Burley said: “Somebody wants to come and say hello to you while you’re on the telly.

"We’ve seen this before haven’t we... she’s welcome any time on the programme.”

Ms Dodds smiled as her child walked off camera.

The moment was reminiscent of an iconic BBC moment where Professor Robert Kelly's children disrupted his comments to the broadcaster live on air.

The father-of-two became an online hit when his commentary was disrupted by his daughter bundling into the room, followed by her brother who moved in in a baby bouncer.
