The secret to the London Mayor’s famous blond locks has now been revealed - he has up to 20 haircuts a year at a family-run barbershop.

Boris Johnson, 50, pops in to The Bay Room barbershop in Angel, north London, roughly once every three weeks, its owner Cevdet Isik says.

He always has a £15 trim - but sometimes splashes out on a head massage, a shave, a hot towel and a Turkish beer too.

Mr Cevdet said Mr Johnson spotted the shop on his commute one day and popped in. He says the Mayor was then won over by their service.

He told The Sun: “He just walked in off the street one day. I gave him a cut and a Turkish beer as well and he was very pleased with it.”

Boris’ spokesman added: “He’s delighted to support a local small businessman.”
