Leafing through the secret speakers list for the Bilderberg Group’s festival in Watford, the Londoner was sad to see David Goodhart wasn’t on it.

Was The British Dream author, rejected from the Hay Festival for his work on immigration and national identity, sidelined by the Bilderbergers? “I declined Bilderberg because I was booked to debate at the Stoke Newington literary festival with [the New Statesman’s] Daniel Trilling,” he tells me.
