Tim Rice Ukip link is just wind

It was widely reported last month that Sir Tim Rice, a long-time Tory, had donated to Ukip. But all is not what it seems, he tells this week’s Spectator. “Two years ago I gave them [Ukip] a modest sum (nothing like the reported £7,500),” he says, adding that it reflected their shared opposition to wind turbines.

“I am not a Ukip member, never have been, and will not be supporting them in any capacity. I would happily donate to Ed Miliband’s war chest if he were to come up with an intelligent non-wind-turbine environmental policy.” You play the tune, I’ll write the cheque?
