The Queen’s a happy lady in waiting

Her Majesty was all smiles last night, two days after it was revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were expecting a baby.

The Queen watched the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican centre and heard a new fanfare by the Master of the Queen’s Music, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. She is patron of the LSO and the concert marked 30 years since she opened the Barbican, whose current MD is Nicholas Kenyon.

Wearing a Stewart Parvin purple and gold cloqué shift dress, she met various dignitaries, as well as 11-year-old Trinity Florence and nine-year-old twins Francesca and Anna Moulds.

“I told her she looked lovely,” said Trinity.
