A bout of bronchitis wasn’t going to cut short last night’s celebrations for shoe designer Christian Louboutin, whose major retrospective opened at the Design Museum. He gathered up his muses including Dita von Teese, Daphne and Jasmine Guinness and Sophie Dahl, after the private view and headed to the Club at the Ivy for mini shepherd’s pies and Belvedere cocktails at the after party, hosted by Evening Standard owner Evgeny Lebedev.

“For me, it’s about making women feel sexy,” Louboutin told me while dancing to Madonna, spun by DJ Henry Holland. Another DJ enjoying the tunes was Bip Ling, while Daphne Guinness hit the dancefloor despite wearing an extraordinary pair of high heels.

“They’re easy to walk in,” she said. “I’ve known Christian for 15 years and I’m so proud of him. He’s a genius. People think I know everything about fashion — but I know nothing, really.”
