Tatler loses faithful dog Alan in freak revolving door accident

15 January 2013

Stop all the clocks. Tatler staff are in mourning today following the death of Alan TBH Plumptre - the magazine’s beloved office dog.

Alan, a miniature long-haired dachshund who fitted snugly inside a designer handbag, met his untimely end last night following a tragic encounter with the revolving door at Vogue House.

He was being walked on a lead when he suddenly darted back into the central revolving doors where he got stuck. He couldn’t be freed and was unable to breathe.

With the help of his “mother” — Tatler’s events manager Jennifer George — the charming puppy had cultivated a devoted Twitter following of more than 2,500 fans, keeping them updated with photographs and dog’s life insights such as “Today I met a cat. It was mostly uninteresting and annoying” or “Pestering Mum on the train so she has to talk to me, a tiny dog, and looks like a PROPER nutter. Classic. #banter”.

Fans including journalist India Knight and Mr Porter’s Jeremy Langmead have been tweeting their condolences.
