Cohabiting with a fellow author has its drawbacks. Jane Thynne launched her new book, The Winter Garden, at Dover Street’s Philip Mould gallery last night, with writers Victoria Hislop and Graham Swift among those in attendance. She explained how living with her author husband Philip Kerr has led to a crossover.

“Both Philip and I both have novels out this month. Mine The Winter Garden, his The Winter Horses, which either shows great minds think alike, or a striking lack of inspiration in our household.”

As long as neither publish The Winter of Discontent, we think the union is safe.
