Five scripts from the forthcoming series of Doctor Who, which features Peter Capaldi in the title role for the first time, leaked online over the weekend after copies were left on an online database. The BBC has begged those who’ve seen them to keep the details under their hats.

Actress Rachael Stirling, star of The Bletchley Circle, appeared in an episode of the sci-fi hit with her mother Diana Rigg and can’t see the logic of sharing the secrets. “The people who are most obsessed by the leaks are those who are going to have their experience tarnished by it,” she told me at last night’s HarperCollins summer party at the Victoria and Albert Museum. “It’s idiotic as far as I can see. They ruin their own pleasure. But then some 16-year-old fan could come across it unintentionally and have their experience ruined, that’s what makes me really angry.”
