No panic, Taylor Swift, you’ve got Tesco on your side ...

Professional pop everygirl Taylor Swift has a new song out, Shake It Off, in which she confronts criticism of both her songwriting and her, shall we say, prolific love life. “I go on too many dates/ But I can’t make them stay/ At least that’s what people say,” sings the former girlfriend of Harry Styles, Joe Jonas, Jake Gyllenhaal, Conor Kennedy and others.

Fans of her usually witty and insightful takes on modern relationships have been left underwhelmed by her latest offering, which includes lines such as “And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate/ Baby, I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake”.

Tesco is backing Taylor, though — tweeting a picture of a cheese grater and the words “You’re right, Taylor Swift! Cheese slices are the only way to go but graters gonna grate.”
