Having learned from Alain de Botton that One Direction’s Harry Styles is a fan of Greek philosophy, the Londoner was keen to ask the glamorous young things at last night’s Jake Bugg gig in Burberry’s Regent Street store whether they, too, had a passion for Socratic dialogues, Platonic morality or Harry-Stotle.

Amber Le Bon, daughter of Simon and Yasmin, thinks that “philosophy is something you should make up for yourself”. Jack Whitehall’s favourite philosopher is former footballer Eric Cantona, while actor Harry Treadaway, who studied the subject at A-level, would still choose his mother as his best moral guide.

But it was London’s model of the moment, Cara Delevingne, who had the most interesting answers. “I live by Buddist principles,” she told me. “But my favourite philosophers are Aristotle and Darwin. I love all that evolution s***. Although,” she clarified, “I’m not an atheist.”
