Keeping quiet: Louise Brealey (Picture: Matt Writtle)

The narrative intricacies of Sherlock are always kept a closely guarded secret but discretion has proved difficult for one of the programme’s stars. Louise Brealey, who plays Molly Hooper, has had a couple of close calls. “The man who mends my car said they’d do me a good deal on a service if I told them what happens next,” she told me when I ran into her last night.

“I was tempted but I managed to keep quiet. But he gave me a fast ride around in his Sierra Cosworth anyway, even though I didn’t tell him.”

We wonder if someone with a spare Ferrari might be able to get more detail.
