Kurdish DPM declines ice bucket challenge

By this point any well-known figure who hasn’t done the ice- bucket challenge is going to need a pretty good excuse should they find themselves nominated. Few, however, are likely to top Kurdish deputy prime minister Qubad Talabani’s brisk refusal to partake.

“Apologies for not accepting #IceBucketChallenge’s yet. Currently helping to run a government, manage a humanitarian crisis & win a war,” he tweeted yesterday as his beleaguered autonomous region faces invasion by IS.

The Londoner doffs its hat to Talabani for having even heard of the meme, let alone for finding the time to so politely refuse.
