Kid’s stuff for Damien Hirst

He's made controversial art out of dead sharks, rotting cows and human skulls — so it’s something of a shock that Damien Hirst has chosen an icon as sweetly naïve as Mickey Mouse for the subject of his latest work, something that finally makes sense of all his spot paintings.

Hirst, who is auctioning off his version of the Disney cartoon character at Christie’s next month to raise money for Kids Company, claims that “Mickey Mouse represents happiness and the joy of being a kid”. Some would argue that BritArt’s former enfant terrible is still a child at heart.
