The Guardian has run a leader article raving about Ken Stott's portrayal of Uncle Vanya. An odd thing to do, on at least two counts.

First, the West End production is nearing the end of its little-praised run. Secondly, the Guardian’s veteran theatre critic Michael Billington said, when he reviewed the play, that Stott’s performance had “little modulation and not much sense of life’s potential”.

Following Hugh Grant’s appearance in adverts for the Guardian, is Ken Stott about to follow suit?
