Louise Mensch’s prescription for girl power: ditch the dull boyfriend. “Don’t slide into marriage with that guy you’re seeing who you quite like but don’t love. You’ll be miserable,” the chick-lit author and former Conservative MP entreats readers in her farewell column in Glamour magazine.

“The man who makes your knees weak and your palms sweat is out there. Don’t settle for a roommate.”

Mensch left her husband of nine years, property speculator Anthony LoCicero, in 2009, and two years later married Peter Mensch, the manager of rock groups Metallica and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and quit her Corby seat to be with him in New York.
