Gillian Anderson is taking on the traffickers

Gillian Anderson opened this year’s London Indian Film Festival last night, appearing at Cineworld Haymarket for the premiere of Sold. Anderson stars while the film, about a young girl sold into prostitution, was produced by Emma Thompson.

It’s an issue that urgently needs tackling, said Anderson, a supporter of the new Taught Not Trafficked campaign with Childreach International. “It’s illegal in most countries but it is often overlooked because so many people profit from it,” she said. “There needs to be more awareness and lobbying.”
