Game is up for President Obama’s band

President Obama’s favourite rock band, The National, will join Neil Young and Crazy Horse for next July’s Hyde Park concert. The Cincinnati rockers hope they won’t suffer a backlash after a disastrous attempt to predict the scores against pundit Mark Lawrenson on the BBC’s Football Focus. “We were in over our heads,” songwriter Aaron Dessner admitted to the Londoner, having failed to call a single result accurately.

The band recently performed a single song, Sorrow, for six solid hours at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. They promise not to repeat the feat at curfew-conscious Hyde Park. “It’s great to get lost in sound sometimes but we’ll stick to what we do best.”
