Conspiracy tales of JFK and the Tardis

25 November 2013

Sotheran’s bookshop off Piccadilly marked the 50th anniversary of JFK’s death and the first showing of Doctor Who by launching two books by conspiracy theorist Craig Cabell. In Killing Kennedy, Cabell claims the President was shot not by Oswald but by five assassins from the front. He blames Mayor of Dallas Earle Cabell (no relation), who made a late decision to reroute the motorcade.

Cabell, who has written a new paperback about Doctor Who, also claims the first programme, broadcast the day after the Kennedy assassination when few people were watching, was repeated the next week by the BBC by mistake. Sadly there was no sign of Sotheran’s director Graham C Greene, nephew of the novelist, who usually attends these events. His father, Sir Hugh Greene, was BBC director-general at the time.
