It used to be cabbies who eavesdropped on celebrity passengers and passed on indiscretions to the rest of us. Now one minicab firm is asking its drivers to be buttoned up.

According to this week’s Spectator Life magazine, the company also sends a message to the phone of any driver picking up Harry Styles or any of his fellow Sony artists, warning them not to ask for autographs or pictures.

But the call for discretion hasn’t quite filtered through to everyone. One driver boasts to the magazine of driving Victoria Beckham across town earlier this year and listening in as her husband admonished her over the phone for being out too late the night before he was to announce his retirement.
