Bryn Terfel gets vocal cords ready for Falstaff marathon

Bass-baritone Bryn Terfel is bidding to enter the record books. “I want to be in the Guinness Book of Records for doing as many performances of Falstaff as I can possibly manage over the next 10 years,” Terfel tells me.

The Welsh star’s bid kicks off with eight performances at the San Francisco Opera next month of Verdi’s final opera. “When I run into the make-up chair and I hear those six wonderful brass chords launching into the opera, I’m as happy as Larry. I’m a pig in s**t.”
