Beaver fever for the Chelsea set

Following last week’s sighting of the first wild beaver in Britain for more than 500 years, Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling are launching a new bar and club called Beavers. It opens in Chelsea at the end of March, and is themed on log cabins the entrepreneurs spotted on trips to Wyoming.

Guests will be treated to a tour through forests, valleys and national parks, surrounded by grizzly bears and moose heads, from which drinks will be served. But what about that name? Gilkes says there’s nothing to worry about: “It is inspired by the mammal native to the area, with a cartoon version as a logo, which should avoid any misinterpretation.”
