Yesterday we reported that Republicans and Democrats had signed a new budget deal in Congress with no “appropriations” — ie funding — for the new US embassy currently being built in Nine Elms. It has been pointed out that though this deal may have been announced this week, there is a longstanding agreement for no additional funding and it does not affect the move. The Londoner is pleased for the residents of Battersea, who will have, in a few years’ time, some very smart neighbours.
