It’s one way to celebrate your birthday. Journalist Amanda Platell, who turned 56 yesterday, gave a reading at last night’s commemorative service at St Bride’s church, Fleet Street, for “A Mission in Peril: Celebrating the Media in Troubled Times”. The service sheet explained that the title refers not only to those on the front line, “but to everyone in an industry which more than ever faces perils now and uncertainty ahead”. Tin hats.
