Alice Temperley, the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite designer, opened her new flagship store in Bruton Street last night while her father Julian provided the drinks.

While Alice fielded questions about whether she is about to make maternity dresses for Kate, Julian was offering apple juice and cider and from his farm in Somerset. “I’m a great believer in local produce,” he told me. “There’s not much point growing things organically if you have to fly in ingredients from overseas.”

Alice’s husband Lars Von Beningsen was there with their four-year-old son Fox. Shingai, of rock band Noisettes, sang for guests including designer Lara Bohinc, models Jacquetta Wheeler and Jade Parfitt, and designer Charlotte Dellal.
