We hear that London It girl Alexa Chung may be planning to tie the knot with her beau, actor Tom Sturridge. Chung, a sometime TV presenter, was spotted at fashion designer Henry Holland’s 40th birthday party last week wearing something that looks a lot like an engagement ring on the third finger of her left hand. Pixie Geldof seemed to let the cat out of the bag with an Instagram story, pictured, that showed her friend sporting the ring. Chung, 39, has previously expressed indifference to wedding bells. She told Porter magazine in 2018, “I just don’t get why marriage is different from non-marriage — I just don’t get it … I think having a partner in life must be quite nice but I don’t need a wedding day per se”. But has her partner Sturridge, who has a daughter with actor Sienna Miller, changed her mind?

Artist Tracey Emin, who famously backed David Cameron’s Conservatives in the 2010 election, could be changing sides. Speaking at the Hay Festival yesterday, Emin said she wants a change of government, despite alternative prime minister Sir Keir Starmer having “no edge”. “The wildest thing that’s ever happened to him is living above a Thai massage parlour,” she joked. One of Sir Keir’s first flats in London was above a sauna and massage parlour which, he said, “kept interesting hours”.

Dead letter?

Geraint Davies allegations

Last year, after the Chris Pincher affair, two unions representing over 1,000 parliamentary staff wrote a letter to Speaker Lindsay Hoyle complaining about “seemingly endless” sexual misconduct allegations in Parliament and calling it an unsafe workplace. In the wake of more allegations this week, against Geraint Davies MP, pictured, some in SW1A are digging up that letter and asking: what has changed?

A House of Commons spokesperson told us: “Sexual harassment has no place in the House of Commons. We take the safety of our staff seriously, and Parliament’s Behaviour Code makes clear the standards of behaviour expected of everyone in Parliament - whether staff, members of the House of Lords, MPs or visitors. There is zero tolerance for abuse or harassment. The Behaviour Code is supported by the Independent Complaints and Grievances Scheme (ICGS), which provides for the investigation of complaints of bullying, harassment or sexual misconduct”

The London leg of Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour has brought the great and the good to Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium, with Dua Lipa, Florence Pugh and Naomi Campbell all seen. But not all Bey fans dig the venue. “She’s not putting on the heaters. I was so cold that I was shaking,” tweeted one. “I can’t stress how cold that blasted stadium is,” said another. The sartorial advice? “Pack your thermal vest”.
