A purple reign for Bond?

Iconic: Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Fatory
21 May 2014

Sam Mendes was pressed for clues about the next Bond film, entitled Bond 24, at a BFI Southbank screening of Paris, Texas, last night — but the director’s lips were sealed. “It’s being written, that’s all I can tell you. If I told you I’d have to kill you.

“It’s ongoing. Once the boat goes in the current, if there’s a hole in the boat, you’re f***ed.”

However, Mendes did acknowledge his debt of gratitude to Ian Fleming and Roald Dahl, the authors behind two of his latest adaptations.

“They created these two iconic characters, Willy Wonka and James Bond. Working on Skyfall and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as I was for three or four years, one work fed the other.”

The Londoner happily awaits a purple-dressed Daniel Craig crooning Pure Imagination in Bond’s next outing soon.
