A knotty issue at the museum

Christopher Woodward to the rescue! The energetic director of the Garden Museum is hoping to see off plans to build the museum’s proposed extension on its famous knot garden, designed by the museum’s president, the Dowager Marchioness of Salisbury.

Woodward tells me that is one of seven options for extending the Museum and by far “the least appealing. The preferred option – as illustrated on our website — is to enclose Lady Salisbury’s garden from the road,” he says. If anyone can cut the Gordian knot then it’s Mr Woodward.
