A “wonderful” student from south-east London has been found dead on a beach in Sussex almost two months after he went missing.

Jer Le Leow disappeared on January 12 after failing to turn up to a lecture at Queen Mary University in Mile End.

The 23-year-old from Welling, in Bexley, bought a ticket from his local train station and travelled towards Eastbourne, police said.

His body was discovered on a beach at Holywell, East Sussex, on Friday.

In a statement posted online Mr Leow’s family said: “We would also like to take this opportunity to remember and cherish all the happy memories we have had with Jer Le.

“Jer Le was a loving son, a wonderful brother and an amazing cousin. He was a cheerful and jovial lad, he was also known for his passion with technology and kindness towards people.

“Jer Le, we will always remember you and be grateful for the opportunity to share our lives with you. We wish you find peace and happiness wherever you are now.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “The death is being treated as non-suspicious.”
